WHY I DID BELIEVE THE BIBLE

WHY I DID BELIEVE THE BIBLE

Because long before man sailed the seas and long before he invented his spaceships to see the true shape of the earth, God had spoken to His prophets that the earth is really round. What science has to prove through inventions and observations, God has caused to be recorded in the Bible:

"It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth..." (Isaiah 40:22, KJV)

Why I said so?  Because in earlier days, it was heresy to believe the world was round.  What was scientific was to believe that the world was flat.  It was argued that should one go too far toward the edge he would fall.  Yet, when Magellan sailed around the world in the 16th century and did not find nor fall off any edges, it had to be accepted categorically that the world is spherical rather than flat.  And astronaut on board space ships through which the earth can be photograph sail around a spherical and not a flat earth.

'Coz God had said long before man discovered it that the earth is not supported by anything at all:

"He strethcheth the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing."  (Job.26:7)

Why again?  Because the ancient Greeks and Romans, the most advanced peoples of their time, believed that the earth was held in place by poles or by the neck of Atlas.  Other believed that Atlas had the earth on his shoulders.  Again, what man has yet to discover, God had already stated in the Bible.

'Coz the ancients believed that there were only a very few stars in heavens.  In 150 BC Hipparchus said that there were less than three thousand.  In AD 150 Ptolemy said there were not more than three thousand.  After the middle ages and the invention of the telescope, men discovered that the stars are innumerable.

Early men believed that the stars in heavens could be counted.  They say that the total would not exceed 3,000.  But only when man invented the telescope did he learned that the stars in the sky are innumerable,  uncountable.  But again, God had stated already during the prophetic age that the stars cannot be counted:

"As the stars cannot be counted nor the sand upon the seashores measured..."  (Jer. 33:22; Living Bible)

'Coz before man discovered that there is great empty space in the North [It contains no moving planets and shining stars.  By turning telescopes to the South, the East and the West, men may behold countless millions of stars invisible to the naked eye but when the telescope is set exactly to the North, there is a great empty space],  it was already stated in the Bible:

"He stretcheth the north over the empty place..."  (Job. 26:7, KJV)

'Coz the Bible had earlier pronouncements regarding those space laboratories, examples of which include Project Skylab of the USA which fell to Earth and the Russian space laboratory known as Salyut:

"Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord."  (Obad. 1:4)

Those are some proofs of the uniqueness of God's words written in the Bible that's why I did believe in it.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT ITSELF

-  It is the only book inspired by God that will give us the wisdom that leads to salvation.

"....the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus."

"All scripture is given by inspiration of god, and is profitable for doctrines, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness."  (II Timothy 3:15, 16)

-  It is the power of God unto salvation.

"For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ:  for it is the of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth, to the Jew first, and to the Greek."  (Romans 1:16)

-  God Himself commanded to write His words in a book.

"thus speaketh the Lord god of Israel, saying,  Write thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book."  (Jeremiah 30:1)

-  The Lord God Instructed the writer if one thing should not be written.

"and when the seven thunders had uttered their voices,  I was about to write:  and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me,  Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not." (Revelation 10:4)

-  God also instructed the writer if it should be put to an end.

"But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end:  many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased."  (Daniel 12:4)
